About
Africa Digital is an independent research platform scoring every African market’s maturity for hosting data centre and AI-infrastructure investment.
African digital-readiness data is currently a footnote in global infrastructure reports: fragmented, stale, and rarely comparable across markets. An investor weighing Nairobi against Casablanca is usually reconciling three incompatible datasets by hand. We close that gap with one framework, applied identically to all 54 markets, and published with its workings visible.
How we work
- Sourced and dated. Every score, statistic, and capacity figure carries a source and an as-of date. A figure we cannot source is a figure we do not publish.
- One framework, no exceptions. The same pillars and the same weights apply to every market. No market is scored on a bespoke basis, and the grade cut-points are published in full.
- History is kept. When a score changes, the previous value is retained and every snapshot is rescored under the current methodology, so a trend line stays comparable when weights change.
- Independence is disclosed, not assumed. We score markets in which operators we may also work with are active. Where a commercial relationship exists, we disclose it inline on the page it affects.
Partnerships and syndication
We co-publish research with institutions whose reach we do not have, and we expect to do more of it. Three rules govern every such arrangement, and they are not negotiable as part of one.
- A partner never sees a score before it publishes. Co-branding covers distribution and commentary. It does not extend to the framework, the weights, or any market’s result, and no partner reviews a figure ahead of publication.
- The relationship is named on the page it touches. Where a report, a market, or a figure involves a commercial or research relationship, it is disclosed inline there, naming the party and what the arrangement covers. Not in a footer, and not on this page only.
- Our analysis appears here first. Work we author is published on this site and syndicated afterwards, so the record of what we said and when is ours and stays complete. Coverage by other publishers is linked to them, never republished here.
Corrections
If a figure on this site is wrong, we want to hear about it. Send the market, the figure, and your source through the contact page and choose “Data correction”. Corrections are applied at the next snapshot, and the prior value stays in the score history rather than being quietly overwritten.
